Hey there,
Have you wondered what PR Planning is about, and how you can possibly hack through it with your busy and scattered schedule? Well, your PR buddy is here to support you because I used to be in that space and it took a while and some mentorship to understand that strategic planning is a part of our lives and that PR Planning just helps to make life easier for you and your stakeholders across all boards.
So let’s start with my story, I used to be so overwhelmed with tasks and a bit haphazard in carrying out some of the PR tasks. You know that period in your life when you are the new kid on the block and people just dump tasks at your feet because it’s sort of a training bit for you? Well, I experienced it, and trust me, it was overwhelming. I think part of the first things to do when you are stuck in these situations is to gather all the tasks and figure out which to start first.
If you are a clutz and you don’t know where to start, I think one of the ways, as I earlier mentioned is to lay it all bare, make a list of all the tasks that you have been assigned to do, and look for the one that you can easily do, also check out the others that may require assistance from senior colleagues or peers, then sort according to the way you work, this means, how do you like to resolve tasks or difficult problems, do you start with the hardest first or the easiest first? Whichever one works for you is fine, just make sure to start!
In your scatteredness, there is definitely an element of a bizarre order to it if you think about it clearly, so always make sure to sit down, take deep breaths, and identify ways in which you can arrange your life and plans. The best part is that once you crack the code of planning, your entire life will be better for it and you can live life a little better.
In my next post, I will be discussing how to write a strategic plan, so be on the lookout for it.
I hope you enjoyed reading up to this point, thank you! Join me weekly in my journey into the PR world where I discuss challenges, tips, pointers, and wins in the PR career space. See you soon!
